I posted some basic 'newbie' questions to this list a few weeks ago.
With the guidance of a handful of people who contacted me directly,
I've put together a document on preparing URLs that's ready for wider
comment.
It's available in the WELLgopher under
The Matrix
The Internet
Curling up to Uniform Resource Locators, by Eric S. Theise
<gopher://gopher.well.sf.ca.us/matrix/internet/curling.up.02>
It's got a brief introduction, some notes on format, and then guides to
preparing URLs for various types of Internet service, ordered by port
number. It's better for low-end connections than hi- because, doing the
dial-up thing, that's what I have the most experience with.
Questions are set off by {Question: ...} and there's a request for a
finger: URL. The project I'm currently working on needs something like
that right away.
Thanks, and let me know what you think.
