Great!
I have really the feeling now that the things are really on their tracks
and that from all the contributions flooding in which cover all
aspects from formalism to pilot proposals, one now may be
rather optimistic about positive outcome.
I am especially pleased with the extensions on both extremes
. conceptual model -- required to build on sound grounds
. piloting/experimentation --required to validate
About piloting my feeling is that we do not need to wait for
complete consensus to start those things, even it can be profitable
to have 2 or 3 seprate pilots which may help to decide between
competing proposals. On the other hand I would hate to see
15 different pilots -- one from every active participant to this group--.
I am especially interethsted in Simon last proposal, and would
appreciate to see a short lived debate on this basis
hoping that this could enable a few different sites/groups
participate (if the specs can be adaptated to suit their ideas
and possibilities). In practice I think that we could
adjust modify our current prototype to be in-line with this
one.
For those who are interested in our strating-point, which
at firts glance does not seem incompatible with simon proposal
please have a look at:
http://champagne.inria.fr/People/JCT/SOLOWWW/1.0.html
or
making use of the prototype itself
1.
http://champagne.inria.fr:8887/
2. type in: pays, inria,fr in the search field
3. then, from my directory entry, select(click): SOLO WWW paper WWW94
which will lead you to the above paper (html and .ps versions
available)
or (using a form of URN)
1.
http://champagne.inria.fr:8887/
2. Select "document search", then type-in: solo,inria,fr
3. then follow(click) the appropriate suggestion (solo and www in the name)
------------
It describe what we have today.
. we would appreciate comments
. I believe it can be modified to participate in a pilot
a la "Simon", and we are prepared to do so.
regards,
