Subject: some questions on the March 94 Masinter&Sollins URN reqs draft spec
1) URNs have a ``single encoding'' which should support
a ``simple comparison'' (p. 3). So, given the same
naming authority, shouldn't two URNs that are
the same (exactly the same sequence of characters) refer to
the same URL(s)? Does exactly the same include quoting characters?
Is there some implied canonical form of a URN?
2) Suppose a naming authority resolves a URN to have two (or more)
URLs. Is it implied that each of the resources are an ``equally good''
resource for this URN? For example URN u1 might map to <url:http://foo.com>
and <url:ftp://foo.com>, indicating that the user can choose with
scheme to go with. Am I reading too much into this?
Tx.
