Karen and fellow URI mavens,

I, for one, am pleased to see your request for documents that
might succinctly capture librarians' concerns about URCs and their
relationship to existing legacy systems such as library cataloging
standards. I'm not sure that such a document exists, but Larry is
correct when he implies that it is up to the Library world to come
forward with the goods. So, if an accessible answer does not exist,
we should develop it, in the form of a white paper on the subject,
or an informational RFI.

I volunteer to coordinate this effort... specifically, to collect and
synthesize the concensus on the major issues on the part of the library
community and to represent these issues in a paper and in the working
group sessions.

Larry - Might I have a place on the agenda in San Jose to discuss this
aspect of the proposed standard?

Librarians - If you have concerns you would like articulated in such a
paper or presentation, please forward them to me. It would help me
cope with a crowded mailbox if you could include the following in
the subject line:

URCs AND LIBRARIES
